UPCOMING HIKES:
WHY GIRLHIKE?
girlhike grew out of the belief that the wilderness around us, and inside us, deserves to be explored.
We want to rewrite the story that women aren’t outdoorsy. That we aren’t adventurers.
We want to build a community for women and non-binary people that makes nature feel safer through togetherness.
Our goal is to make girlhike accessible to as many women+ and girls+ as possible.
WHAT MAKES A GIRLHIKE?
-
SELF-REFLECTION TIME
Time and space to clear your head in nature, with the full knowledge that someone is guiding your steps and maintaining your safety
-
PEER COACHING
Conversations for possibility, where you can explore what comes up without judgement or fear
-
COMMUNITY BUILDING
Weaving a fabric of togetherness with other participants, knowing that you have shared this experience together
OUR VALUES
-
OUR APPROACH
girlhike welcomes anyone who identifies
as a woman or non-binary person. We are committed to creating more opportunities for our community to get outdoors together, in ways that feel safe and accessible for all.
We are committed to creating liberatory experiences that can be enjoyed by an intersectional community of women+ and non-binary folks, and we ask all girlhikers to adhere to our code of conduct.
-
CODE OF CONDUCT
At any girlhike event, we request that you:
1. Treat other girlhikers with respect; we may have our differences, but we hold space for them equally
2. Maintain confidentiality about whatever is shared during a girlhike
3. Ask opening questions before sharing advice, and listen more than speaking
4. Be respectful of one another’s boundaries when forming new friendships
5. Ensure no girlhiker is left behind
-
PRIORITIZE INCLUSION
girlhike does not tolerate transphobia, racism, homophobia, ableism, ageism or any other use of language or conduct that could make another girlhiker feel excluded.
Any such conduct will not be tolerated and could result in your removal from a girlhike.
